Sitting in my Comparative Literature 202 class talking about Bulgakov’s Master and Margarita…  Think it’s time for a new blog post!

ICC has been out for quite a while, and we’ve even seen the introduction of the first pity buff.  I suspect, and I hope, that more raid teams are strapping on their shiny armor in preparation for the Fall of the Lich King.  ICC 10 dropping ilvl 251 is even starting to feel paltry compared to the 264 goodness available in 25 man.  Plenty of guilds that I know of have a good 10 man raid team, but find it hard to get 25 people together for a good run through Icecrown.  How can a raid lead decide if his healers are the problem, or if it’s the DPS?  Logs!

Why Logs?

I thoroughly enjoy the recent post by Chris Anthony over on Duct Tape and a Prayer.  It’s short, sweet, and has a great point to it.  It’s just a game, right?  Why not try as hard as you can in a game?  It’s just practice for real life.  No effort goes wasted.  Hopefully your raid leader has enough raid awareness to notice the little deeds you do where you could have just stood in the fire and been healed through it.

Gunship Battle, why not just let the rockets hit you? Not too much damage to heal through just one, right?  Hardmodes, just one rocket will knock you off the boat for insta-death.  If you want to try as hard as you can, then try as hard as you can.

I know when I raid lead, I’m staring at my Grid, and have a pretty good idea of every debuff, and most damage that goes out.  I keep track of people that get hit by fire in my own mental failbot.  On the flip side, I also notice when a hunter, such as Rossleep, sees 3 spores in ranged on Festergut, and immediately runs in to inoculate the tank, without being told.  Bravo!

Your raid leader is watching!  But they can’t see everything.  Use WorldofLogs.com to get an idea of your dps, your heals, and even the damage taken by the tanks.

My raid lead, and raid assists faithfully record their logs so we can find where we need to improve.  In case my guildmates read these posts, I’ll go ahead and link the most recent log.  This is where I’m getting my numbers for a successful ICC 25 to complement the ICC 10 data I had a couple weeks ago.  This night we one shotted everything, and called it to do VoA.

Class is almost out, so I’ll forgo the discussion of 5-7 healers.  However you can get these numbers can lead to a smooth ICC 25 run.  Good luck!
